Georg Jarzembowski received a law degree from the he University of Hamburg in 1973. Jarzembowski also holds a PhD in Law from the University of Hamburg.
In 1978, he started to work as a judge in Hamburg and between 1979 and 1991 worked as a consultant in the judicial department of the Free and Hanseatic City of Hamburg.
Jarzembowski joined the Christian Democratic Union of Germany (CDU) in 1968. In 1991 he was elected Member of the European Parliament and remained an MEP until 2009.
