Jean-Pierre Audy received a chartered accountancy degree from the University of Clermont-Ferrand. Audy also holds a post-graduate diploma in taxation, finance, and business law and a Master's degree in economics from the University of Clermont-Ferrand, a post-graduate diploma from the Institute of Business Management in Clermont-Ferrand and he is a graduate of the International Student Center of the University of California, Los Angeles. Audy founded an accounting firm in Meymac in 1979 and an audit firm in Paris in 1995. He became a member of the Union for a Popular Movement (UMP) in 2002. In 2005, Audy was elected Member of the European Parliament for France and remained an MP until June 2014. During that time he was member of the Group of the European People's Party (Christian Democrats), Vice-Chair of the Committee on Budgetary Control, Vice-Chair of the Delegation for relations with the Mercosur countries, Vice-Chair of the Delegation to the Euro-Latin American Parliamentary Assembly and member of the Committee on International Trade, meber of the Delegation for relations with the Maghreb countries and the Arab Maghreb Union (including Libya), member of the Committee on Budgetary Control, member of the Committee on Industry, Research and Energy, of the Delegation for relations with the countries of Southeast Asia and the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN), member of the Delegation to the Euro-Latin American Parliamentary Assembly and member of the Delegation for relations with the Mercosur countries. He is Knight of the Legion of Honour and Knight of the Order of Academic Palms.
