The European Medical Research Councils set up an Advisory Group in Toxicology which met from 1975 to 1988. A programme of grants in toxicology for collaborative research between European countries was begun in 1981.
The Advisory subgroup proposed to EMRC recommendations concerning the necessity of bringing together a few experts for ad hoc discussion of particular topics related to toxicology.
