The bronze Medal (13cm in diameter) is placed in a dark blue cloth. The face of the Medal presents a sextant mechanism with a movable clock hand. The reverse of the Medal includes an inscription: 'Fundação Calouste Gulbenkian 50 annos 1956-2006' with a logo of the Foundation. A leaflet is attached to the Medal in English and Portugese detailing the concept of the Medal design and the mentioning Rui Sanches as its designer.
