Gazeta Wyborcza emerged on 8 May 1989 as a media branch of Solidarity movement ahead of 4 June 1989 semi-free election which resulted from the Round Table talks between Solidarity and the communist government. Issues covered in the clippings are: political situation in Poland related to the Hanna Suchocka government, performance of a post-communist government 1993-1997, parliamentary election in 1993 and 1997, Polish foreign policy, EU and NATO accessions. The end point of this set of clippings are parliamentary elections in 1997 which resulted in B. Geremek nomination to the government of Jerzy Buzek.
