Transposition is the process of incorporating EU directives into the national laws of EU Member States. Unlike regulations and decisions, directives are not directly applicable throughout Member States but require national laws to incorporate their rules into national legislation.

As part of its function, the EFTA Surveillance Authority holds meetings with representatives of the Governments of the EFTA States parties to the EEA Agreement in order to discuss problematic issues related to the implementation and application of the Acts which have been integrated into the EEA Agreement
