Harvesthead Project
The Harvesthead project was a European initiative focused on modernizing forestry training through technology. The main project objective was to produce a training module in the use of timber measurement and logistics using the forest harvesting head unit and computer software. A distant-learning package was disseminated through the project partner-networks.
The Project was funded by the European Commission's Leonardo da Vinci programme, and involved a total of 13 partners from eight countries, including forestry training schools, industry and professional forestry associations. It was led by Eufortech (the European Forest Technology Forum), an Ireland-based network created to bridge the gap between forestry training and industrial technological advancements. It successfully brought together 13 partners from 8 countries, including a diverse mix of forestry schools, software developers, and industry associations.
