Context
The collection has been handed over to the Historical Archives of the European Union by Redon Pilinci on the 26/08/2021 in Florence. Subsequently, he deposited texts in electronic format.
On 16/04/2024 Redon Pilinci integrated the collection with correspondence between Isuf Luzaj and Emin Fazlija (1972 - 1992, copies cf IL 4)
Redon Pilinci contacted the Historical Archives from Albania in September 2020 offering the deposit of the material. He reports that the collection is the result of extensive research in the life and works of Isuf Luzaj which is related also to the European integration process. By depositing the material in Florence, Redon Pilinci intends to enhance and promote research on Luzaj.
Content and Structure
The collection consists of 46 photocopies of archival items, 9 copies of photographs, 2 printed books and correspondence exchanged by Isuf Luzaj and Emin Fazlija (1972 - 1992).
After attending high school in Albania and studying some semesters in Paris, Isuf (also Yusuf) Luzaj (*13/02/1913 Kanina (Albania) † 25/11/2000 Chicago) teaches languages in Tirana. Because of his opposition to Italian invasion of Albania in 1939, he is arrested and deported to Ventotene on 18/03/1940. In 1942 he returns to Albania and in 1944 he is again in Italy. From 1948 until 1965 he teaches languages and humanities in Argentinian (Buenos Aires); from 1965 to 2000 he lives and teaches in the United States of America (New Hampshire, Indiana and Illinois). Luzaj published poetry and philosophical, political and pedagogical writings.
