The Network on Systematic Biology was approved by the ESF Executive Council in June 1994 for a three year period and it was completed in 1997.
The Chairman was Dr. Stephen Blackmore from the Natural History Museum in London.

Content and Structure

Abstract

The main topics discussed during the Network on Systematic Biology are: phylogeny and species richness; interpretation of evolutionary patterns; concepts and methods in phylogenetic reconstruction; systematics and computer science; collections databases.

The dossier contains documents and correspondence on the establishment and management of the Network and on the meetings of the Coordination Committee. It contains: proposal for a Network on Systematic Biology, March 1994; summary reports 1995 and 1996; minutes of the third meeting held in Frankfurt, 9 Nov 1995; agenda and minutes of the fourth meeting held in Strasbourg, 14-15 May 1996; agenda and minutes of the meeting held in Crete, 19 Oct 1997; Mega-science Forum working group 1996; completion report by Stephen Blackmore and evaluations.
