Context
The Network on Highly Structured Stochastic Systems was approved by the ESF Executive Council for a three year period from January 1993 to 1995.
The Chairman was Professor Peter J. Green from the University of Bristol.
Content and Structure
Main interest of the Network is to create stochastic models that can find applications in diverse areas, like expert systems, genetics, image analysis, statistical mechanics.
The dossier contains: proposal for a Network on Highly Structured Stochastic Systems; proposal for a Network on Conditional Independence Models in Stochastic Systems; agenda and minutes of the first meeting of the Coordination Committee, held in Strasbourg, on 15 Feb 1993; correspondence on the organisation of the first workshop in Cortona, 9-16 April 1994; HSSS Bulletin n. 1, 1994; minutes of the second meeting of the Coordination Committee, held in Cortona, on 15 April 1994; minutes of the third meeting of the Coordination Committee, held in Wiesbaden, on 2 Sep 1994; subcommittee meeting in London, 24-25 Feb 1995; Bulletin 4 May 1995; proposal for a Scientific Programme on "Highly structured stochastic systems" to the ESF, Sep 1995, and report of the proposal; final report on "Highly structured stochastic systems" by S. Richardson and P. J. Green, Feb 1996; evaluation of the Network by Espedal.
