The Network on HLA and Allergy was approved by the ESF Executive Council in June 1992 for a three year period and it was completed in 1995.
The Chairman was Professor Mario Ricci from the University of Florence, Vice-President of the International Society of Allergology and Clinical Immunology (IAACI).

The Network on HLA and Allergy studies the response to allergens at the cellular and molecular level, focusing on the allergens which have been extensively characterized both at the protein and at the encoding gene level and are of epidemiological and clinical relevance ("Bet v I"; "Lol p I"; "Par o I"; "Fel d I"; "Der p II").
