Content and Structure
The file contains documentation related to the Cassese candidacy for the "European Commission of Human Rights" in 1992 and for the "European Court of Human Rights" in 2001; he wasn`t elected in both cases.
The first dossier comprises mostly letters retracing the sequence of events of the election: from the candidacy to the comments on the unsuccessful nomination. Correspondence with Benedetto Conforti, Emilio Colombo, Stefano […], Franco Foschi, Giuliano Amato, Carlo Russo.
The second larger dossier, on his candidacy for the European Court of Human Rights, consists of letters and documents in which Cassese put forward his candidacy and letters written during the ballots showing how the elections were developing and the influence of political pressures. The last letters consist of correspondence between Cassese and several friends a few hours after the end of the election. The file contains above all letters but also Cassese`s cv and documents of the Council of Europe and the Sub-Committee on Human Rights.
