At the occasion of the opening of the archives of the ALDE Group in the European Parliament, a selection of historical documents of the Group was exhibited at the venue of the conference “40 years European elections 1979-2019” in Florence, 22-23 November 2018. The ALDE Group deposited its archives at the HAEU in Florence with an agreement signed in 2013. The documents and photos on display, such as the inscription form of René Pleven to the Groupe des libéraux et apparentés of the European Parliamentary Assembly signed on 19 March 1958, a letter on the proposal for the candidacy of Simone Veil for the presidency of the European Parliament in 1979, and a photo taken during the Congress of Liberals and European Democrats in Catania on April 1986 with Karel De Gucht, Simone Veil and Martin Bangemann, cover some key historical moments of the Political Group.
