The European Union Intellectual Property Office (EUIPO) is a decentralised agency of the European Union. It was established as the Office for Harmonization in the Internal Market (OHIM) by Council Regulation (EC) No 40/94 of 20 December 1993 on the Community trade mark, and is based in Alicante, Spain. The Regulation entered into force in 1994.
Council Regulation (EC) No 6/2002 created the registered Community design, and later Regulation (EU) No 386/2012 of the European Parliament and of the Council entrusted to the Office the European Observatory on Infringements of Intellectual Property Rights. Following the entry into force of Regulation (EU) 2023/2411 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 18 October 2023 on the protection of geographical indications for craft and industrial products, the Office received full competence for the management of the registration process of this new EU intellectual property right.

The EUIPO main mission is managing EU trade marks, registered EU designs, and geographical indications for craft and industrial products at EU level.
