1979-1985: Advisor on external economic questions and economic and monetary policy questions in the European Parliament from 1979 to 1985, Jens Nymand-Christensen was Member of the Cabinet of the European Commission's Vice-President Henning Christophersen from 1985 to 1993. He was Head of the Representation of the European Commission in Denmark from 1993 to 1997. From 1997 to 2000, he was Head of Unit ‘Information, Consumer Representation and Consumer Education’ in the DG for Health and Consumer Protection, and, in the same DG, from 2000 to 2002, Head of Unit ‘International Food, Veterinary and Phytosanitary questions’.
