During this period; was member of International Chamber of Commerce Advertising and Distribution Commission; Joint-Rapporteur of I.C.C Codes of Advertising Practice and Sales Promotion. Leader of I.C.C delegation to Codex Alimentarius Labelling Committee, Ottawa; member of Council of Europe working Party on Misleading Advertising; Adviser to rapporteur (Lord Darling) and draftsman of Council of Europe Consumer Charter; Arbitrator in I.C.C. commercial disputes.

1973-1977: Head of Consumer Protection Division in EEC Commission in Brussels and as such drafted first EC Consumer Protection and Information Program, working closely with the Council of Ministers, European Parliament and Economic and Social Committee. Represented the Commission on Consumer Protection committees of the Council of Europe; OECD; and International Standards Organisation.
1977-1990: After retirement from the Commission (at 60), set up one-man consultancy, during which period was: Adviser to National Consumer Council, Consumer’s Association and UK delegation to EC on Second Consumer Program; first Chairman of Consumer in the European Community (UK); European Adviser and a Vice-President of the Trading Standards Institute Administration (a post still held), co-editor of GINTRAP (European Guide to Industrial Trading Regulation and Practice); Founder-member and Vice-President of the European Food Law Association; Consultant to WHO/UNICEF and Industry on Code of Practice for Marketing of Breast-feeding Substitutes; Consultant to Council of Europe on use of mailing lists in advertising, mail order and market research, Adviser to Federation of European Direct Selling Association and draftsman of European and World Codes of Conduct for Direct Selling; Code Administrator for British Direct Selling Association’s Code of Conduct.
1990-1998: Member of Committee of Historic Houses Association; member of Committee of UK Branch of AIACE and liaison with RSVP (Retired Senior Volunteer Program).
