Haute Autorité CECA
The CEAB group of fonds is made up altogether of 15 individual fonds (see list below) containing the archives of the High Authority of the European Community for Coal and Steel, and its various directorates, horizontal committees and working groups. The CEAB group is currently made up of 28,000 files. They illustrate the activities of the first supranational entity created by the Treaty of Paris (1951) which led to the implementation of the Common Market for Coal and Steel between the Six founding countries. The fonds also contains the documents coming from the first commissions of the European Economic Community until the fusion of the Executives in 1967.
The archives of the High Authority are sent to Florence by annual transfer by the historical archives service of the Commission, 1 rue de Cortenberg, Bruxelles, who are also responsible for drawing up the inventories.
