Abstract:

This series contains records of the European Economic Organisations Department of the Foreign Office, and its successors. The records cover the period from the start of the ultimately successful application by the UK to join the European economic communities, and the UK's consequent withdrawal from the European Free Trade Association. The series also deals with UK relations with other economic organisations operating in Europe, work of the Anglo-Danish Liaison Committee and the Anglo-Irish Free Trade Area Agreement.
